Vision of the UVG Biomedical Engineering be the first regional program to enable technologies to improve human health and health care solo or in partnership of national and international partners.

 

Mission through its faculty and graduates, Universidad del Valle de Guatemala, Biomedical Engineering, is a driving force to improve human condition creating knowledge and biomedical technology in a national and international context.

CONTEXT

UVG is focus on science and technology, our school of engineering has a leading position on innovation, academic standards, research an extension within the country and the region.

Biomedical Engineering represents an enormous potential not only for UVG but also for the country. We need human resources capable of developing, manage, repair and maintenance biomedical equipment and applications.

The undergrad program provides a strong foundation in basics in STEM, internships/practicum but needs the international scope.

SCOPE

To promote International learning abroad to expose students to new ideas and cultures, to help diversify their education, and open a wide variety of career options. Being able to work and communicate across cultures and international boundaries.

Biomedical engineering students are encouraged to intern, conduct research, take language courses, and explore new academic disciplines.

Bilingualism

Internationalization should benefit students in the long run through enhanced global competency, personal, cross-cultural capabilities and employability skills.

Bilingualism has been the cornerstone of UVG policy since its origin. The policy entails an emphasis on using English and Spanish. It is a requirement for student to study the English language.
