Licenciatura en English Language Teaching
This Licenciatura en Educación con Especialidad en English Language Teaching program prepares ELT professionals to develop and empower Guatemalans from different perspectives: administrators, innovators, and researchers in the field. With this licenciatura, you can officially be the academic administrator of a school and be the legal representative on behalf of your school to MINEDUC.
The graduate of the Licenciatura en Educación con Especialidad en English Language Teaching is an ESL/EFL professional with a solid theoretical understanding of the field and a practical approach to the academic, pedagogical, and management roles in ELT.
We are leaders in the education, development, and training of English language teachers. Our graduates are equipped with the skills and competencies to thrive professionally in teaching, educational leadership, and educational research.

At UVO, we offer five ticenciaturas degree programs and nine teacher education programs. Our
goal is to ensure that every talented student who wants to study with us has the opportunity to do so.

Admission requirements for licenciatura
For applicants holding a degree from another university:
- Complete the admission application form through the Admissions Portal
- Submit the following documents:
a. National Identification Document (DPI)
b. Recent photograph
c. Teaching or technical degree diploma bearing the official seals of the Office of the Comptroller General (Contraloría General de Cuentas) and the Tax Administration Authority (SAT)
d. Interview with the Department Director
For applicants holding a UVG degree:
- Contact WhatsApp at (+502) 5064-1127 and indicate the licenciatura you are interested in so you can schedule an interview with the director.
- Go to: https://uvgservice-now.atlassian.net/servicedesk/customer/portals
- Look for the option “Trámites y servicios”.
- Select “Solicitud de cambio de cambio de carrera” and choose the degree program to which you wish to apply.
- Complete the form and wait for the process to be completed (allow 24 to 48 hours) and check the status of your request in the portal.
- Pay the enrollment fee through the student portal: https://portal.uvg.edu.gt/
