INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS
Universidad del Valle de Guatemala (UVG) welcomes all international students whether you’re interested in a semester-long student exchange or summer study abroad program. Application Requirements:
- Nomination/authorization letter from home university listing approved courses.
- Statement of interest from student (in Spanish)
- Application – Download and complete an application
- Official Transcripts - Submit official transcripts for all college/university education. A minimum GPA of 2.5 is required.
- Letter of financial support
- Student language proficiency report from language department
- Contact Form
- Photocopy of Passport (foto page)
If accepted you will be required to provide proof of international health insurance coverage.

Currency
Currency is the quetzal and there are about 10 quetzales per euro, 8 per US dollar and 7 per Canadian dollar. You can use credit cards in almost every city, but not in small towns or villages. VISA is the most accepted credit card in Guatemala.
Housing
UVG has no on-campus housing facilities; housing is not included in the cost of the program. The OAI will arrange for housing in close proximity to the university, making transportation to and from the campus convenient for students.
